Tilcayo Cats:Attribution
Most of Tilcayo Cats's text was copied from the English Wikipedia, whose text is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 (CC BY-SA). The licence requires that its authors are credited, and allows this to be done with a link to a page that lists them. Because Tilcayo Cats deletes most old revisions (Project:Data and history policy), credit is not left to the local page history. Instead each page with imported text keeps a compact attribution record:
- Attribution records (database table
tl_attribution, shown at Special:Attribution): the English Wikipedia title, the source revision ID and a link to the full English Wikipedia page history up to that revision, which lists every author. Replayed edits by the Destruction accounts (the operator's own accounts) and text pasted by editors and attributed by patrol (WP:CWW) are recorded too. - A short attribution notice is shown at the foot of every such page, linking to its record.
- Article talk pages carry an
{{Imported from Wikipedia|title|rev|date}}header with the same links.
No Wikipedia usernames are stored here. Since 30 September 2026: imported revisions are credited to "Wikipedia contributors" with one generic summary; English Wikipedia users' signatures, pings and user links in discussions were replaced by enwiki contributor; imported user pages of Wikipedia users were removed (a few pages other pages depend on were moved to neutral titles under Project:Imported data); stored author lists were deleted. The history link above remains the way to see who wrote the text.
These records are never removed by the history purges or the nightly job. If you copy text from the English Wikipedia yourself, say so in your edit summary with a link to the source page (for example Copied from en:Example, see its history for attribution); the patrol will add a record if you forget.
