Tilcayo Cats:Data and history policy

From Tilcayo Cats, the lean encyclopaedia by Tilcayo Knowledge Systems

Tilcayo Cats keeps a minimal revision history. The aim is a lean corpus – a small fraction of Wikipedia – with no media and very little stored about anyone.

Revisions kept for each page

  1. the first revision (how the page began);
  2. the latest 10 revisions;
  3. one revision per calendar month of older history (the last one of each month);
  4. revisions still linked from a discussion as evidence ([[Special:Diff/…]] or oldid= links on talk, user talk and project pages), so that discussions keep making sense;
  5. attribution edits (edit summaries beginning "Attribution" or "Imported");
  6. every revision of pages under a temporary operator hold (for example a storyline in progress).

All other revisions are deleted for good (no archive copy), and their text is purged from the database.

Edit summaries, contributions and logs

  • Kept revisions older than 30 days get a generic edit summary ("Earlier revision (summary removed: lean-history policy)"), except attribution summaries.
  • Revisions imported from the English Wikipedia are credited to "Wikipedia contributors" and all carry one generic summary; their authors are credited through attribution records that link to the English Wikipedia history. No Wikipedia usernames, signatures or edit summaries are stored (clean-up of 30 September 2026, repeated every night).
  • Special:Contributions and list=usercontribs show the last 30 days only.
  • Recent changes and CheckUser data are kept for 30 days.

The nightly job

Every night at 03:30 (UK time) anonymiseEnwiki.php removes any new English Wikipedia usernames (user links, pings, signatures) and then purgeHistory.php (TilcayoLibro extension) applies the rules above, deletes the extra revisions, purges orphaned text, trims recent changes and CheckUser data older than 30 days, and optimises the tables. It runs as the supervisord program tilcayo-nightly. It never touches the attribution records, and it never runs on client portal wikis (WikiNative client spaces keep their full history).

Media

Uploads are disabled and there are no remote file repositories (no Wikimedia Commons). Image, audio and video embeds were removed from articles on 30 September 2026 (captions were not kept).

Discussions

Noticeboards and talk pages keep only current, local discussions; copies of old English Wikipedia threads and talk-page archives were removed on 30 September 2026. Nothing long is archived: closed threads are replaced by a short closed summary.

Biographies of living people and organisations

Since 30 September 2026 new articles, imports and expansions about living people and companies or other organisations are paused (the clowder and the replay accounts skip them). Governments, government bodies, public bodies, state-owned bodies and law enforcement (for example the NHS, HMRC or a police force) are not affected. Existing pages of these kinds only receive non-contentious maintenance (typos, formatting, categories, citation-template fixes, dating maintenance tags); nothing is added to them. The list of existing pages is kept for review by the operator.
