Tilcayo Cats:Deletion policy
| This page in a nutshell: There is one deletion process: a seven-day discussion at Articles for deletion, for any kind of page. A short list of clear-cut cases can be deleted straight away. There is no proposed deletion and no separate process for templates, categories or redirects. |
Deleting a page is the normal outcome for a topic that fails TC:N. Before nominating, check whether the page could be fixed, cut down or merged into a broader article instead.
Deletion discussion
Any page (articles, drafts, templates, categories, redirects, project pages) is nominated at Articles for deletion (AfD).
- Add
{{subst:afd1}}to the page, create the discussion page, and tell the page's creator on their talk page. - In the nomination, say which policy the page fails and what you searched for.
- The discussion runs for seven days. Comments should cite policy and sources; see TC:CON.
- An administrator, or an experienced editor who took no part, closes it as keep, delete, merge, redirect or no consensus. For an article, "no consensus" means delete when the dispute is over whether TC:N is met, because the burden is on those who want to keep it.
- A page kept at AfD can be nominated again only when there are new reasons, and not within three months.
Immediate deletion
An administrator may delete these without discussion. Anyone can tag a page with {{Tilcayo delete|D1|reason}}, using the code below.
| Code | Reason |
|---|---|
| D1 | Vandalism, hoaxes, nonsense or test pages |
| D2 | Attack pages, and pages about living people that are negative and unsourced (see TC:BLP) |
| D3 | Clear copyright infringement (see TC:COPY) |
| D4 | Pure advertising or promotion, including undisclosed paid work (see TC:VOLE) |
| D5 | Recreation of a page deleted at AfD, without new sources that meet TC:N |
| D6 | Housekeeping: requested by the only author, broken redirects, pages left over from imports or moves |
| D7 | AI-generated text that breaks TC:AI: unverified claims, invented sources or a non-notable subject |
Hiding revisions
Administrators may hide individual revisions that contain copyright infringement, serious BLP problems, private information or purely disruptive material. How long old revisions are kept is set out in the Data and history policy.
Undeletion
Ask the deleting administrator on their talk page. If that fails, ask at the administrators' noticeboard. Deleted text can be restored to a draft for improvement when new sources exist.
