Amegilla griseocincta
Amegilla griseocincta is an Australian bee described in 2020 and named for its greyish abdominal hair bands. The type specimens came from Henbury Station in the Northern Territory, where they were collected in May 2013 on mistletoe identified as Amyema preissi.[1]
Appearance and flowers
Females have white hind-leg pollen brushes, pale facial marks and black hair at the front of the second to fourth upper abdominal plates. Males have a large patch of stiff dark brown bristles on the fourth abdominal sternite, with branched hairs surrounding a notch on the fifth.[1]
The revision examined five males and seven females. It records visits to Amyema preissi and Eremophila. These specimen records establish flower associations, but not whether the bee specialises on mistletoe or how it constructs its nests.[1]
