Amegilla houstoni

From Tilcayo Cats, the lean encyclopaedia by Tilcayo Knowledge Systems

Amegilla houstoni is an Australian bee described by Brooks in 1988. The 2020 revision could examine only its name-bearing female, collected at Windjana Gorge in the Kimberley region of Western Australia on 10 April 1980.[1]

What is documented

The female has black hair over the abdomen with white bands along the rear edges of the upper plates. The band on the first plate is narrow. The specimen was collected on Trichodesma flowers, and the male was still unknown in the 2020 account.[1]

The single April record is not enough to define a flight season. Nor does one specimen in a revision establish that the species is endangered or extinct. The published account supports a description of the known female and its collection locality, while leaving much of its biology undocumented.[1]
