Amegilla youngi
Amegilla youngi is an Australian bee described in 2020 from a single female collected at Litchfield in the Northern Territory on 18 February 2006. The species was named for its collector, Andy Young.[1]
What the specimen shows
The female has black hair on the second to fourth upper abdominal plates, with pale bands along their rear edges. The fifth plate is entirely white-haired. Two roughly parallel black marks cross the central face plate. These features form part of the published diagnosis.[1]
The male was unknown in the 2020 revision, and no flower records were listed. The lone February collection date does not establish a flight season, while one examined specimen is not a population count. Further observations would be needed to describe its nest, food plants or wider distribution.[1]
