Original article and assessment

This is an original account written for the British Bees project, using the cited scientific papers and specialist sources. It is not a Wikipedia import or a paraphrase of a Wikipedia article. Prepared and checked with Codex on 8 October 2026. This is an editorial self-assessment; no independent expert review has been claimed.

Current Tilcayo assessment: B-Class. The assessment uses Wikipedia's content-assessment criteria as a guide. It is not a grade awarded by Wikipedia.

Identity, appearance, geographic range, British habitats, seasonal activity, nesting, food, parasites and dated conservation assessment are covered. The uncertain internal nest layout is identified as such.

Source and accuracy checks

  • Specialist accounts and research were read before drafting. Their roles differ: a checklist supports taxonomy and country records, while field studies support the observations they actually report.
  • Historical scarcity labels are dated. Local, national and international status must not be interchanged.
  • No photographs, maps or source prose were copied. Scientific names, measurements and reported observations are attributed through the inline references.
  • The writing check used the Denis Output Auditor checklist and Wikipedia's Signs of AI writing advice as a self-review. It does not certify human authorship or independent approval.
  • Future imported text must not replace this original account automatically. Any proposed expansion needs a source check and a comparison with the saved revision.
