Research notes and checks (24 October 2026)
The following points about this article's sources still need checking:
- Revised 24 October 2026: Collins (2010) is now the main source (306, Milvian Bridge 312, Constantinople begun 324 and consecrated 330, death 337). Thompson is kept only for attributed statements (Edict of Milan, Council of Nicaea, Holy Sepulchre, pontifex maximus, baptism, reunification by 323, law-making).
- Potter 2014 note 12 is used for Helena's home town; the |location= from that note is not cited.
- Collins notes his father as Constantius; 'Chlorus' and his birthplace (Thompson: Illyrian birth) are no longer used. His birth date was not found.
- Thompson's 'quondam enemy' description of Eusebius is left out (unclear whose enemy). His sons' later history is not described, to avoid violent detail.
- Collins note 36 (chronology, page unread) is not used.
- Collins is cited as Red Globe Press, 3rd edn, year=2010, ISBN 978-0-230-00673-7, as printed on the copyright page ('Third edition 2010'). Perlego lists 2017; the mismatch is not reconciled. The ISBN is printed without a binding and is assumed to be the print edition.
- Thompson is cited as Routledge Revivals 2016 edition, orig-date 1931, ISBN 978-1-138-65906-3. **All Thompson page numbers are approximate (~) and unchecked**; every Thompson point is paraphrased. The book is dated (1931), so interpretive views are attributed to him.
- No |location= or access-date is cited.
- Quotation marks are used only for full-sentence exact quotations, or for terms of three words or fewer found in the notes.
- Neutral, family-friendly: the subject died centuries ago; no graphic violence; no living people, active companies or current products are named.
- The category Category:People has not been checked against the live wiki, nor have the See also links.
- All notes cited are marked 'Not checked' against the printed book.
