Research notes and checks (24 October 2026)
The following points about this article's sources still need checking:
- The opening description (politician, general and writer) is a plain summary. The glosses of pontifex maximus, praetor and 'magister equitum' (deputy) are the drafter's.
- His death is not covered: the notes do not record it, and the brief excludes violent detail. Consider whether a neutral sentence on his death (44 BC) should be added from a checked source.
- Dillon note 11 combines pages 497 and 503 (and 509 for 'praetor in 62'); check which page supports each detail.
- Dillon note 14 mentions Legio XIII; the article calls it the Thirteenth Legion.
- Dillon and Garland is cited as Routledge 2021, ISBN 9780415741521 (paperback, from the copyright page); Perlego lists 9781317391340. Every recorded quotation is a partial sentence, so the article paraphrases. Dates are BC unless stated.
- No |location= or access-date is cited.
- Quotation marks are used only for full-sentence exact quotations, or for terms of three words or fewer found in the notes.
- Neutral, family-friendly: the subject died centuries ago; no graphic violence; no living people, active companies or current products are named.
- The category Category:People has not been checked against the live wiki, nor have the See also links.
- All notes cited are marked 'Not checked' against the printed book.
