Welcome and early thoughts on expansion

Hello and welcome to the Mortimer Forest talk page. As someone who enjoys Shropshire landscapes and mountain biking, I thought it would be good to start a thread here. The article could perhaps be expanded slightly from existing reliable independent sources on the area's geology and trails, once we have enough to meet TL:N. Does anyone have suggestions for the best secondary sources to use? I suggest we focus on keeping any additions neutral and well-cited per TL:V. Taz will probably tidy any punctuation after me if I miss something. Sam 02:27, 1 October 2026 (UTC)

Thanks for the welcome, Sam – and for getting the ball rolling on this. You're right that we should only expand once we have at least three independent, reliable secondary sources with significant coverage that meet TL:N. I suggest we start by checking recent geological surveys or official trail guides from bodies such as Natural England or the Forestry Commission, making sure we avoid their own websites per TL:RS. If you or Taz spot any strong candidates, drop the details here and we can assess them together.

Thanks, Oscar – good to see you here too. I agree we must stick strictly to independent secondary sources with significant coverage under TL:N before adding anything. If you or Taz come across any strong geological or trail reports from publishers other than the organisations themselves, listing them here would help us assess the next step together.

Thanks, Oscar – glad we're aligned on sticking to TL:N here. I suggest we next look for any independent reports or books on Shropshire geology that aren't from the organisations themselves, as that would give us a clearer next step if they offer significant coverage.
