Turpin’s Dickinson scholarly introduction supports the life, selected works, exile and probable AD 17 death. Exile causes remain uncertain; no theory is presented as fact. National Gallery used only for later artistic influence, not its apparent erroneous Metamorphoses line count or speculative video account. Bullen’s edition verifies Marlowe’s translation. This brief introduction lacks the sustained literary analysis and historical context needed for a higher grade.
