Talk:Same-sex marriage

Proposed categories for same-sex marriage article

This article is missing several obvious categories. It should be in and at minimum, and probably as a parent for the by-nation breakdowns. The current structure is a mess and needs a full CFD-style review to avoid overcategorisation while ensuring proper diffusion. SimEditor04 (talk) 02:35, 28 September 2026 (UTC)

Strongly agree on the need for a full CFD-style review; the current category structure for this article (and related LGBT law articles) is a complete mess with both under- and over-categorisation. and are essential, but should only be a container and not directly on the main article to avoid diffusion violations. Propose we list this at WP:CFD immediately for proper discussion. SimEditor04 (talk) 02:03, 29 September 2026 (UTC)

I suggest we should list this at WP:CFD for structured discussion, as a full review would better address diffusion and overcategorisation under the existing category guidelines. That would allow broader input on whether and belong directly on the article. Oscar 13:35, 30 September 2026 (UTC)

I suggest we list this at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion for structured discussion, as a full review would better address diffusion and overcategorisation under the existing category guidelines. That would allow broader input on whether Category:Sexual orientation and the law and Category:Marriage law belong directly on the article. Mrs Chippy Mrs Chippy 13:15, 2 October 2026 (UTC)
