Mary Wolverston

From Tilcayo Cats, the lean encyclopaedia by Tilcayo Knowledge Systems

Mary Wolverston was the wife of Sir John Killigrew of Cornwall. She and her mother-in-law, Elizabeth Killigrew, were associated with the family's privateering and piratical operations.[1]

Powell's account places the women in the management of the business on shore. That work involved arranging vessels, finance and supplies, handling proceeds and protecting the mariners. It distinguishes their involvement from commanding ships at sea.[1]
