Tilcayo Cats Original: editorial record

Local assessment: Start-Class. This is an initial Tilcayo editorial assessment, not a Wikipedia award or an independent audit.

Start-Class: original account grounded in the modern Guna history by Luis Carlos Arenas2024 pp527–529, and Russell1894 pp33–34 for Dampier’s death narrative. Arenas chapter PDF directly extracted and complete relevant pages inspected, including visual page528; publication metadata corroborated by the CLACSO/University of Panama catalogue. Russell’s complete relevant passage inspected in Gutenberg. These two authors substantially depend on Dampier: they are not claimed as independent eyewitness corroboration. The article attributes the narrative, gives no invented Guna personal name, exact birth/death date, or pirate-command career, and does not confuse Gret with the second captured child. Dates around1670/1679 and earlier histories’ relative timelines not forced into an exact biography. Violence and enslavement acknowledged without graphic detail; prejudiced colonial descriptions and direct quotations omitted. Less than200words derived from Arenas and less than100from Russell. Further Indigenous perspectives, primary-text comparison and chronological corroboration would improve the account; no exhaustive literature claim. No living-person or organisation exception needed.

Original prose written from inspected references; sources reviewed on 9 October 2026. Wikipedia's requested-articles list supplied research leads, not article prose. No claim that the literature is exhausted.
