Tilcayo Cats:Piracy/Coverage record

From Tilcayo Cats, the lean encyclopaedia by Tilcayo Knowledge Systems

Finite piracy coverage record

Source: Wikipedia requested articles, revision 1198165588, snapshotted 9 October 2026. The finite local inventory records all 790 numbered requests (711 different title strings), with source context retained. Duplicate titles are not assumed to be the same person; aliases need evidence. No Wikipedia prose was imported.

Initial exact-title reconciliation found 710 missing title strings and one existing page, Delos. This is only an existence check, not a judgement about that page's coverage. Alternate names and appropriate sections still need reconciliation. Do not regenerate the inventory or repeatedly enqueue completed items.

Batch 001

Source request or support Status Decision
Gertrude Imogene Stubbs Live Original; Start-Class Fictional character, not a historical pirate. Gunpowder Gertie redirects to the same account. Declared fiction and documented archival/art appearances are kept separate.
Elizabeth Killigrew Live Original; Stub-Class Powell's scholarly account distinguishes her from her daughter-in-law Mary. Only supported identity and shore-based role included; no invented dates or voyages.
Mary Wolverston Live supporting Original; Stub-Class Separate family member; identity clarification. Further biographical details require corroboration.
Piracy; Privateer; Buccaneer Live / live / live; all Start-Class Directly necessary introductory concepts. Government commission and regional labels must not be confused with one another.
Elizabeth Shirland Held: insufficient corroboration The source site's own account labels her fictional. Its historical narrative and genealogical speculation do not establish a documented pirate biography. No article or historical claims published. Revisit only when stronger identifiable evidence becomes available.
Gregoria de Castellar y Mantilla Identity review pending Review advanced to a finite evidence hold in batch 002 below; no female classification or article published.
Gabrielle Chambres De Boisbaudrant Identity review pending Resolved in batch 002 below; retained here as the earlier review state.

Batch 002

Source request Status Decision
Rene Beluche (request 10) Live Original; C-Class Louisiana's historical dictionary explicitly identifies Renato as René. Both spellings redirect here. The disagreement between its 1780 birth date and the Venezuelan dictionary's 1773 date is stated, not silently resolved. Both confirm death in 1860.
Gabrielle Chambres De Boisbaudrant (request 106) Live Original; Start-Class Historical studies identify a male knight and commander who died in 1644. The requested spelling redirects to the sourced name. Command and final expedition covered; no inferred birth date, nationality or disputed captive parentage.
Gregoria de Castellar y Mantilla (request 625) Held: further identity corroboration needed An inspected scholarly history names captain Gregorio de Castellar on a 1631 mapping expedition; a separate historical dictionary names governor Gregorio de Castellar y Mantilla at Cumaná around 1650. These are useful leads, but the connection between the records and the requested Tortuga subject has not been fully demonstrated. Do not invent a female pirate biography or merge the records by assumption. Reopen on new corroborating evidence, not repeated unchanged searches.

At the end of batch 002, four requested subjects and four supporting Originals were live; 786 source entries were uncompleted, including held items. Redirects are navigation aids, not additional Originals. No living-person or organisation exception was used in this batch.

Batch 003

Source request Status Decision
Lords of the Spanish Main (request 1) Live Original; Start-Class Game identity, rules and one attributed critical discussion. This is a cultural subject on the requested list, not a historical pirate. No article or exemption for its designer, critic or publisher.
Louis "Cut Nose" Chighizola (request 11) Live Original; Stub-Class The National Register historical study identifies Lafitte's lieutenant and his Grand Isle property. Requested nickname redirects to the same account. Exact life dates, the nickname-origin anecdote and uncorroborated voyages are omitted.
John Lopez (pirate), also listed as John Russell (request 0) Held: source access and identity review A scholarly thesis and published history have been identified as leads, but sufficient relevant text has not yet been inspected to verify the alias and write a supported account. Do not treat a search snippet as a completed review. Resume with a readable source or changed access, not repeated failed retrievals.

At the end of batch 003, six requested subjects and four supporting Originals were live: ten Originals, with 784 source entries uncompleted, including evidence holds. One further nickname redirect was added; redirects are not additional Originals. No living-person or organisation exception was used.

Batch 004

Source request Status Decision
Francis Grognet (request 2) Live Original; Start-Class The journal's editorial note explicitly joins the English spelling Francis Grognet to François Groniet; Grogniet is the spelling in other histories. Three spelling redirects serve this account. Campaigns and death year covered without exact death-day claims, invented ship details or copied prose.
Bledry Morgan (request 3) Live Original; Stub-Class Haring documents both Bledry and Blodre. Command at Panama and the proposed Providence governorship are covered. No asserted family relationship to Henry Morgan or merger with other Morgans; no invented life dates.
Jacques Nepveu (request 5) Live Original; Start-Class Identified as sieur de Pouançay, a governor rather than automatically labelled a pirate. Official activity, inheritance, enslaved and indentured labour, and death in1683 covered. Conflicting exact tenure and death-day details are recorded on the talk page rather than silently reconciled.

At the end of batch 004, nine requested subjects and four supporting Originals were live: thirteen Originals, with 781 source entries uncompleted, including the existing evidence holds. Five spelling/name redirects added in this batch; redirects do not increase the Originals count. No living-person or organisation structural exception was used.

Batch 005

Source request Status Decision
Juan de Pando Estrada (request 6) Live Original; Start-Class Military officer and governor, not labelled a pirate. The detailed thesis chronology gives suspension in 1686, whereas Castillo's survey extends his tenure to 1687; discrepancy retained in the editorial assessment. Pirate response, defence works, investigation and death are covered without invented family details or graphic descriptions. Requested spelling redirects to the account.
John Gret (request 7) Live Original; Start-Class Guna intermediary, distinct from the second child captured by Wright. Modern Guna history and Russell's biography both draw on Dampier; this source dependence is explicit. His reported death is described non-graphically, with no invented dates or pirate command.
Jan Corneliszoon (request 4) Held: identity and reliable source corroboration The name occurs in descriptions of the 1683 St Augustine expedition, but the inspected leads were Wikipedia-derived or weakly sourced. It also matches unrelated Dutch figures. No biography or redirect created. Reopen with a directly readable scholarly or documentary identification, not another unchanged name search.
Patrick Pringle (request 8) Held: author life status Bibliographic records identify the author of Jolly Roger, but the bounded checks did not verify his death. A 1953 author-profile lead and further authority research remain unreviewed. Do not conflate the writer with the geologist or unrelated obituary subjects, infer death from an old publication, or create an exemption automatically.

At the end of batch 005, eleven requested subjects and four supporting Originals were live: fifteen Originals, with 779 source entries uncompleted, including five evidence holds. One spelling redirect was added; redirects are not Originals. No living-person or organisation exception was used. New evidence is required before reopening the held cases.

Batch 006

Source request or support Status Decision
Benjamin Bennett (governor), request 13 Live Original; Start-Class Historical governor, distinct from later namesakes. A peer-reviewed study supports the privateering disputes; a museum historian explains the silver oar and maritime court. First accession in 1701 is verified. Exact second-term dates and the later pardon campaign need further review; no invented life dates or pirate label.
Bermuda, necessary support Live Original; Stub-Class Existing coverage was absent. This geographical account supports Bennett and navigation, with five relevant live mainspace links. It is a place account, not an exception for an active organisation. Wider history and society remain gaps.
John Drudge, request 9 Held: source access and corroboration The requested person is identified in research leads, but the relevant scholarly passages were not obtained. The University of Michigan dissertation route returned access errors and an empty browser page. Earle and Black remain unread leads. No article or alias created from Wikipedia alone. Reopen with readable scholarly or documentary evidence, without unchanged retry loops.
The Blackest Day, request 12 Held: weak evidence and title ambiguity The alleged pirate observance appears in weakly sourced websites; the inspected leads do not establish it as a documented historical celebration or a universally accepted end date for piracy. The same title also names unrelated music. No article or redirect created. Reopen with reliable historical or cultural evidence identifying the observance.

Twelve requested subjects and five supporting Originals are live: seventeen Originals. The other 778 source entries remain uncompleted, including seven recorded evidence holds. No living-person or organisation exception was used.

Continuing work

The unprocessed source requests remain pending; a name in a database or an existing page alone is not a completed source review. Each item needs an explicit disposition: existing coverage, original published and verified, alias/section coverage, insufficient evidence or approval pending. Count completion only after verifying exact saved prose, citations, render, navigation, assessment and preservation entry. Preserve originals and uncertainties. No recursive red-link expansion.

Structural support and exceptions

James authorised directly necessary supporting pages on 9 October 2026. Any proposed exception for a living person or active organisation must be presented to him with the exact minimal text and structural reason, and must receive his explicit approval before publication. Uncertain status is held; it does not authorise an exception. Citing an institution or an author does not require an article about them. No such exception was used in batch 001. The named Kew exception is separate and non-transferable.
