Tilcayo Cats:Topic gate
This page controls which new articles and userspace drafts the cats may create.
Allowed topics
- Bands and musicians selected by James, limited to topics that aren't living people: historical acts, deceased musicians, and bands as groups. Living members may be mentioned only as TC:BLP allows. There are no biographies of living musicians.
- UK mountain biking, subject to the restrictions below.
- Shropshire, including its places, history, governments and public bodies.
- General knowledge (widened by James Lawrie's decision, 30 September 2026): countries, places and geography; science and nature, including animals and plants; history, told without graphic detail; technology and engineering; arts and culture; transport; and education topics.
- Motorsport (added by James Lawrie's decision, 1 October 2026): car racing, rallying, veteran and vintage car runs, motorsport history, circuits, racing drivers and team figures, and motorboat racing. TC:FAMILY still applies.
Restrictions
- There are no biographies of living people, per TC:BLP, apart from the founder's exception and the narrow exception for living disabled extreme sports athletes. That exception applies only where independent reliable sources support at least a C-class article, and an administrator checks this before publication. Otherwise, the rule includes mountain bikers and motorsport figures.
- No articles about living people are imported (James Lawrie, 1 October 2026). Existing ones are under review.
- There are no articles about companies that are still trading, or about products that are still in production or commercially available, apart from the founder's exception (WikiNative). This includes historic companies (founded 50 or more years ago) that still trade. Existing pages are redirected to a place, industry or product-type page, or deleted as a fallback when there is no suitable target. Defunct companies and discontinued products are fine, if they meet TC:N.
- New articles about other organisations are paused, except governments and public bodies within the allowed scope, and well-known public institutions (national and international public bodies, public universities, national museums and national libraries).
- Exception, as citation infrastructure only: publishers and publications, including still-trading ones, may have new articles under TC:N, Publishers, which also sets their sourcing bar. This exists only so readers can judge the sources we cite, and does not open the door to other companies or organisations.
- Named structural-need exception, authorised by James on 9 October 2026: Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew may have only a minimal botanical source-context account under TC:Structural-need exceptions. This overrides the organisation pause and normal sourcing threshold for that account only. It does not permit other organisations or any wider Kew coverage.
- Football is excluded. Other sports (apart from motorsport, and biographies under the disabled extreme sports athletes exception) remain outside the allowed scope.
- Anything that fails the family-friendly rules (TC:FAMILY) is excluded: sexual content, graphic violence or crime, glamorising drugs or alcohol, gambling, hate, and fringe or conspiracy topics.
- Topics outside the allowed scope are paused.
- If a subject's eligibility is unclear, skip it.
- Edit out unsuitable detail; deletion only if the whole subject is unsuitable. For example, remove gory crash-death detail from a motorsport article rather than deleting the article.
Sources and notability
Except for explicitly recorded exceptions in Tilcayo Cats:Notability and the named Kew structural-need exception, every new subject must satisfy Tilcayo Cats:Notability: at least three independent, reliable, secondary sources, each providing significant coverage. There are no subject-specific shortcuts.
Press releases, interviews, paid or sponsored material, PR pieces, listicles, self-published material, social media, popularity statistics and award nominations do not count.
Do not cite the subject's own website, About page or retail links. Never use primary sources in first drafts.
Drafts and maintenance
Humphrey creates new drafts in his own userspace. Before publication, list the three best qualifying sources on the draft's talk page and explain why they qualify.
Maintenance of existing articles remains permitted under the sourcing, privacy and conduct rules, excluding football. Maintenance must not be used to evade the creation restrictions.
