After the Cries of the Birds is a work of poetry by Lawrence Ferlinghetti, published as a booklet by Dave Haselwood in San Francisco in 1967. The first edition was issued in stapled paper covers.[1]
In a 1993 study of Ferlinghetti’s poetry, James Oliver discusses the poem’s imagined new society. He connects its imagery with the poet’s interest in art as an active experience involving writer and reader, rather than simply a fixed representation of the world. This is Oliver’s critical interpretation of the poem.[2]
