Scope and progress
Plant collection · A-list progress
Finite source inventory: 1,441 entries across the existing A–Z plant hotlists. X and Y had no source page in the saved inventory. One hundred and seven A-list entries now have one hundred and six distinct original accounts, one hundred and twelve alternate-name redirects and two disambiguation pages. The other 1,334 entries remain pending; they are not failed jobs or confirmed distinct taxa.

Name decisions
- Abelmoschus tetraphyllus → Abelmoschus manihot subsp. tetraphyllus. Current Kew treatment uses subspecies rank; PROSEA uses species rank. The article identifies that difference.
- Abelmoschus tuberculatus remains a species account. The June 2026 WCVP snapshot placed the name under okra, but current POWO accepts it following the September 2026 reassessment. A dated snapshot must not override the newer evidence.
- Abrus pulchellus → Abrus melanospermus subsp. melanospermus. The article reconciles the Asian flora names without transferring African records from other subspecies.
- The three Abutilon names have separate accepted-species accounts. Regional measurements and flowering dates are labelled as regional.
- Acacia accola → Acacia adunca, following the New South Wales flora.
- Acacia boliviana → Acaciella angustissima var. angustissima, following current Kew treatment and the variety-specific revision. The parent species is not redirected to one variety.
- Acacia bonariensis → Senegalia bonariensis, Acacia borleae → Vachellia borleae, and Acacia brevispica → Senegalia brevispica. These are established name combinations or synonyms, not additional species.
- A conflicting horticultural range for Vachellia borleae was excluded. Its article uses regional flora evidence; dated automated national conservation screening is explicitly distinguished from a current global assessment.
- Acacia chisholmi → Acacia chisholmii. Current WATTLE uses the double-i spelling; the older spelling also occurs in historical botanical literature.
- Acacia costaricensis and Acacia collinsii → Vachellia collinsii. Current Kew and the taxonomic factsheet agree on identity. Colombia's native status is inconsistently presented by the source records and is explicitly distinguished from occurrence in the article.
- Acacia cymbispina and Acacia cochliacantha → Vachellia campeachiana. Older accounts may use the epithet campechiana.
- Acacia dolichocephala is a disambiguation page, not a redirect: Harms's name refers to Vachellia dolichocephala, while Safford's later homonym refers to Vachellia sphaerocephala. Both have independently sourced accounts.
- Acacia dudgeoni and Acacia dudgeonii → Senegalia dudgeonii. The 2013 revision explicitly records the original single-i spelling.
- Acacia edgeworthii → Vachellia edgeworthii, Acacia erubescens → Senegalia erubescens, and Acacia etbaica → Vachellia etbaica. The accounts distinguish regional flora descriptions and bounded experiments from species-wide claims.
- Acacia fleckii and Senegalia cinerea → Senegalia fleckii. Current Kew accepts the 2015 fleckii combination; the 2013 cinerea name is listed as illegitimate and superfluous. Do not create a second species account from that alias.
- Acacia gerrardii, Acacia gerrardi and Vachellia gerrardii → Vachellia gerrardi. The single-final-i spelling follows Kew; its name service documents the double-i usages.
- Acacia glomerosa, Acacia polyphylla and Senegalia glomerosa → Senegalia polyphylla, following current Kew synonymy.
- Acacia gourmaensis → Senegalia gourmaensis; Acacia grandicornuta → Vachellia grandicornuta; Acacia hamulosa → Senegalia hamulosa. Regional descriptions and experimental findings remain scoped to their evidence.
- Acacia gummifera is a disambiguation page: Willdenow's name refers to Vachellia gummifera, endemic to Morocco, while Delile's later homonym refers to Vachellia tortilis subsp. spirocarpa. The parent species is not redirected to this one subspecies.
- Acacia hebeclada → Vachellia hebeclada, with three accepted subspecies distinguished from the detailed SANBI treatment of subsp. hebeclada.
- Acacia hockii → Vachellia hockii; Acacia luederitzii → Vachellia luederitzii. Regional studies and variety descriptions are not applied universally to each species.
- Acacia macrostachya and the source-list spelling Acacia machrostachya → Senegalia macrostachya. The spelling with an extra h occurs within the 2017 paper on triterpene saponins that otherwise identifies the plant as Acacia macrostachya. It is treated as a navigation spelling, not asserted as a formally published botanical synonym or a second species. The two source rows share one coverage record and must not trigger separate article creation.
- Acacia negrii → Vachellia negrii; Acacia paolii → Vachellia paolii; Acacia pennatula → Vachellia pennatula. The first two have Start-Class coverage with evidence gaps stated on their talk pages.
- Acacia neovernicosa → Vachellia vernicosa. The unqualified name Acacia vernicosa is ambiguous: the American usage by Standley differs from the earlier Australian name by Fitzgerald, now treated as Acacia incrassata. No unqualified redirect has been created. See the CPBR name treatment.
- Acacia oswaldi → Acacia oswaldii, an orthographic variant recorded by the Australian Plant Census through the Atlas of Living Australia. The Victorian threat listing is explicitly regional.
- Acacia persiciflora → Senegalia persiciflora; Acacia schweinfurthii → Senegalia schweinfurthii; Acacia stuhlmannii → Vachellia stuhlmannii. Current names follow Kew; regional descriptions and historical cultivation records retain their scope.
- Acacia rubiginosa Colla → Mimosa pigra var. pigra, following current Kew synonymy. This is a variety account. The parent species name has not been redirected to it.
- Acacia subalata → Vachellia nilotica subsp. subalata, following current Kew taxonomy. This is a subspecies account; the broader Vachellia nilotica name has not been redirected to it. Historical FAO uncertainty about some Asian records is distinguished from the current checklist.
- Acalypha godseffiana → Acalypha wilkesiana. Kew treats the old species name as a synonym; RHS also recognises ‘Godseffiana’ as a cultivar name. The account distinguishes the two uses.
- Acalypha repens → Acalypha herzogiana, identification. Steinmann and Levin (2011) explicitly document this misidentification in cultivation. This is a navigation redirect for a misapplied name, not a formal synonym claim. No automatic redirect of the other misapplied names was made.
- Acanthococos emensis → Acrocomia emensis, following the 2010 combination accepted by Kew.
- Acantholimon scorpius retains the requested name. Acanthophyllum mucronatum covers A. microcephalum under current Kew synonymy; the 2016 pollen study’s separate treatment is disclosed rather than silently merged. Both accounts are Start-Class and retain their Originals protection.
- Acanthophyllum squarrosum retains its name. The older Flora of Pakistan included stocksianum; current Kew accepts that as a separate species. The difference is explicit.
- Acanthorhiza chuco → Chelyocarpus chuco, the combination accepted by current Kew.
- Acer acuminatolobum → Acer acuminatilobum is an editorial spelling correction for navigation, not a formal botanical synonym. The account concerns the named Hungarian maple and its history; Kew treats it as a synonym of field maple. It is not counted as a separately accepted species or substituted for general field-maple coverage.
- Acer discolor → Acer oblongum var. oblongum, name and identification. The formal synonym is distinguished from uncertain cultivated trees using the Iturraran Botanical Garden account. No redirect of the parent species to this single variety.
- Acharagma aguirreana → Acharagma aguirreanum, a spelling reconciliation confirmed by current Kew and the explicit LLIFLE note. CONABIO’s recorded IUCN category is distinguished from the date of its database release and from the 2007 field observations.
- Acharagma roseana → Acharagma roseanum, the corrected spelling. Older horticultural descriptions include galeanense, now a separate species in Kew; the article states that difference and does not transfer old range or conservation figures without checking.
- Achillea albicaulis → Achillea millefolium subsp. millefolium, following Kew's accepted synonymy. The parent species has not been redirected to this single subspecies.
- Achillea clypeolata retains its name. It is not called strictly Balkan endemic because current Kew includes France.
- Achillea fragmentissima → Achillea fragrantissima, an editorial spelling correction, not a newly established botanical synonym. No medicinal efficacy claim is made.
- Achillea micrantha retains its name. The 1999 type-based review separates it from older applications of the same name to arabica/biebersteinii. The Latvian introduction record is distinguished from Kew's broader Baltic distribution unit.
- Achillea ochroleuca follows the accepted Ehrhart name. Its Bulgarian conservation evidence is dated and national; a historical action plan is not a new global assessment.
- Achillea tenuifolia follows the accepted Lamarck name. The account uses specimen-based microscopy and a scoped field experiment, with no medical efficacy claim.
- Achillea vermiculata → Achillea vermicularis, explicitly an orthographic variant in current Kew. Both source entries are resolved through the same Original.
- Achillea wilhelmsii retains its accepted name. Regional rhizome ecology is not generalised to worldwide invasive behaviour; previously used regional santolina labels are not automatically treated as formal synonyms.
- Achyranthes argentea → Achyranthes sicula: both Lamarck and Thwaites usages are synonyms in current Kew. Conflicting origin descriptions are acknowledged.
- Achyrocline flaccida retains its accepted name; its genetic survey is regional and is not a current worldwide threat assessment.
- Achyrocline madioides → Achyrocline alata under current Kew synonymy. Kew's Bolivia-only native-range field conflicts with sourced regional Brazilian/Colombian records; no reason for that discrepancy is invented.
- Achyropsis fruticulosa → Achyranthes fruticulosa under the revision first published online in December 2024 and issued in 2025. Start-Class reflects missing species-level morphology and ecology.
- Acnistus breviflorus and Acnistus parviflorus → Vassobia breviflora, verified through Kew and USDA GRIN; one account resolves both source entries.
- Aconitum callibotryon → Aconitum plicatum subsp. plicatum: Kew synonymy and the 2021 revision agree on the name relationship. The whole parent species is not redirected to a single subspecies.
- Aconitum talassicum has two accepted varieties; the Chinese flora describes only var. villosulum. Its morphology is labelled accordingly and the account is Start-Class.
- Aconitum vulparia follows Kew's species treatment. Aconitum lycoctonum subsp. vulparia is a synonym, but this does not justify a redirect of the whole A. lycoctonum species.
- Acosmium dasycarpum → Leptolobium dasycarpum; the 2020 Brazilian Least Concern assessment is dated and national.
- Acosmium panamense → Leptolobium panamense; Panamanian morphology and phenology are regional observations, not universal range limits.
- Acrachne racemosa retains its accepted name; regional height ranges and flowering seasons are attributed to their floras.
- Acrocomia quisqueyana → Acrocomia aculeata under current Kew synonymy. Older broad genus classification in the identification guide is distinguished from recent research.
- Actinidia fortunati → Actinidia fortunatii as spelling navigation, not an asserted separate botanical synonym. The 2009 review's disagreement over glaucophylla is explicit.
- Actinidia guilinensis → Actinidia latifolia var. latifolia under current Kew and Flora of China. The parent species is not redirected to a single variety.
- Actinidia hemsleyana remains a separate species; its chloroplast study is not a population census or a reason to merge it with latifolia.
- Actinidia indochinensis covers Merrill's species. The H. L. Li usage is explained as a historical citation error, not counted as another species; parent callosa and latifolia are not redirected.
- Actinidia kolomicta → Actinidia kolomikta as spelling navigation. Research on white leaves is scoped to the experiment; the dated North American naturalisation review is not evidence of current absence.
- Adiantum poiretii retains its accepted species name. Regional ecology and a doubtful epiphyte record are qualified; no unsupported medicinal claim or global conservation status is added.
- Aechmea pimenti-velosii → Aechmea pimenti-velosoi as spelling navigation. Older Santa Catarina endemism differs from the later WFO range listing; historical conservation assessments are not presented as current global status.
- Aegiphila tomentosa → Aegiphila verticillata, following current Kew synonymy. Regional flora observations remain scoped.
- Aeschynomene brasiliana and Ctenodon brasilianus → Ctenodon minimus, following the accepted 2024 combination. No pooled data for the separately treated venezolana taxon were transferred.
- Aeschynomene denticulata retains its accepted name; conflicting annual/biennial versus perennial descriptions remain explicit.
- Aeschynomene falcata → Ctenodon falcatus at species level, preserving its varieties rather than redirecting the species to one of them.
- Aeschynomene histrix → Ctenodon histrix, following current Kew acceptance; Aeschynomene hystrix is older spelling navigation. The species account retains its varieties and separates laboratory findings from field evidence.
- Aeschynomene villosa retains its accepted name. Older longifolia variety usage is reconciled with Kew's current two-variety treatment; historical cultivar observations remain dated.
- Afrocarpus elongatus → Podocarpus elongatus as navigation from the horticultural usage in the hotlist, not a claim of a formally published synonym. SANBI's Western Cape endemism and Kew's broader African range remain an explicit unresolved source difference.
- Agalinis angustifolia, Agalinis bandeirensis, Agalinis brachyphylla and Agalinis schwackeana retain their accepted names. Earlier Gerardia combinations for angustifolia, brachyphylla and schwackeana provide navigation.
- The root-anatomy study's tentative A. aff. brachyphylla identification remains qualified; it did not study A. schwackeana. Flower colour and hemiparasitism in the latter remain qualified where the sources are uncertain.
- National conservation categories are dated: 2012 for angustifolia, 2022 list for the other three. Historical collection gaps are not treated as proof of extinction or a current population count.
- Agarista angustissima, Agarista chapadensis and Agarista coriifolia retain accepted species names. Earlier Leucothoe names and Andromeda coriifolia are navigation redirects.
- Regional measurements and specimen observations are scoped. The 2023 Bahia treatment does not recognise coriifolia varieties, while Kew retains var. bradei; the disagreement remains explicit without redirecting varieties.
- A Bolivian specimen once called coriifolia was reassigned to lanceolata in 2026; no Bolivian range extension is asserted. Historical unassessed status is not a present-day threat assessment.
- Agarista duartei, Agarista ericoides, Agarista eucalyptoides and Agarista glaberrima retain accepted species names. Historical Leucothoe combinations, Andromeda eucalyptoides and Agarista multiflora provide navigation redirects.
- Later Ibitipoca collections supersede the old ericoides statement that it was known only from type material. Regional flower-colour differences remain attributed.
- The 2023 Bahia flora documents glaberrima in Bahia, despite Kew's narrower Minas Gerais range summary. A 2026 paper reports eucalyptoides in Espírito Santo from reidentified collections. These are documentation updates, not dated arrivals.
- Reproduction findings for ericoides and eucalyptoides are from a 2019 conference abstract and are scoped to its Ibitipoca experiment. No current threat category is asserted.
- Agarista hispidula, Agarista minensis and Agarista niederleinii retain accepted species names. Historical combinations and the two niederleinii varieties lead to the corresponding account or its varieties section.
- The hispidula reproduction findings are scoped to seven Ibitipoca plants and a 2019 conference abstract.
- The 2022 Brazilian minensis assessment supplies Paraná records beyond Kew's narrower range summary and a dated national Near Threatened classification; an automated prediction is not substituted for that assessment.
- The 2020 Serra do Brigadeiro study provides a Minas Gerais record for niederleinii beyond the older southern-state treatment. Varieties remain attributed to Judd rather than assumed to be a newly reviewed classification.
- Agarista nummularia, Agarista organensis and Agarista pulchra retain accepted species names. Nine historical names provide navigation. The similar current species Agarista pulchella remains separate; the ambiguous bare historical name Andromeda pulchella was not redirected.
- The nummularia account uses the 2020 Rio Grande do Sul dissertation for regional habitat and phenology, and the published 2020 typification study for its name-bearing specimens.
- The organensis conservation classification is explicitly attributed to the 5 January 2017 red-book assessment, not substituted with an automated prediction.
- The 2023 Bahia flora supplies pulchra records beyond the narrow older Minas Gerais summary. Conflicting bracteole descriptions are not used for a diagnostic claim.
- Aglaonema marantifolium retains its accepted species name. Four unambiguous historical names redirect to it; the bare homonym Aglaonema oblongifolium was not redirected.
- Aglaonema commutatum 'Pseudobracteatum' covers the cultivated plant requested under Aglaonema pseudo-bracteatum. The hyphenated and unhyphenated older names redirect there; it is not counted as a separate wild species. Nicolson's proposed connection to an older descriptive name remains explicitly uncertain.
Completion and retention
A completed entry requires the saved article, checked references and rendering, Originals marker and category, talk assessment, appropriate alternate-name route, and a baseline in TC:Originals preservation register. Completed entries must not be regenerated or automatically imported over. All grades are retained under TC:Originals preservation policy. An incomplete scientific literature review does not establish that a richer article is impossible.
Taxonomy candidates from Kew WCVP version 16 (June 2026) are used as a starting point, not automatic decisions. Ambiguous and unmatched names require individual checks. No repeated whole-list imports or retries are authorised by this record.
Internal navigation — 9 October 2026
James requires a few working internal article links in every plant Original so it provides routes for the racing game. Use at least three distinct, relevant mainspace destinations in article prose or a concise related-topics section. Verify that the targets exist and that redirects do not return to the source article. External citations, category links and project pages do not count towards this minimum. Preserve the original prose, citations and grade; do not add unsupported facts or pursue an endless new-page chain just to create links.
Kew in a botanical-source context links to Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, not the London district. That two-sentence account has a named, non-transferable exception. No other active organisation inherits it.
