Template:Uw-talkvenue
Hello, Uw-talkvenue, and thank you for your contributions. I noticed that you recently raised an issue involving another editor or their contributions. I wanted to let you know that discussing your disagreement with another editor is encouraged and very much the right approach, so thank you for that. However, that page wasn't the ideal venue for this kind of issue.
Wikipedia has two basic routes for initially raising an issue with another editor. Choosing the right one depends on what the issue is about:
- Content: If you have an issue with the content changes made by another editor, such as what facts should be in the article or how it is worded, then you may use the article talk page or the other editor's user talk page. The article talk page is generally preferable, since other editors interested in the article are more likely to see the discussion there and join in; you are welcome to participate in the discussion and help reach consensus. Keep the discussion focused on improving the article, rather than on the other editor's behavior.
- Conduct: If your issue concerns the conduct of another editor, such as personal attacks or edit warring, then the right venue to discuss it is the their user talk page.
You may not always be able to resolve the issue right away, and if discussion becomes deadlocked, or if the other editor doesn't respond, you may seek outside input to help resolve the dispute. Disputes over content have many venues for outside help, such as a third opinion, mediation, and seeking additional opinions at the talk pages of relevant WikiProjects. Issues of conduct can be escalated to the incidents noticeboard, or by using the {{Admin help}} template on your user talk page. Thank you.

Usage
{{subst:Uw-talkvenue}}{{subst:Uw-talkvenue|Page}}references a specific page{{subst:Uw-talkvenue|Page|Additional text}}adds text onto the end of the message instead of "Thank you"{{subst:Uw-talkvenue||Additional text}}or{{subst:Uw-talkvenue|2=Additional text}}also adds text onto the end of the message instead of "Thank you", but doesn't link a page as specified by the page.- you may set optional param 1 ('page') to the article talk or user talk page used
Please remember to substitute the template using {{subst:Uw-talkvenue}} rather than {{Uw-talkvenue}}.
To customize your message, parameters are available; one to add the article name, and one to add additional text at the end of the message. If your param value contains an equal sign (as urls often do), then be sure to explicitly specify the positional parameter by number; i.e., use |1= or |2= followed by the value; e.g., |1=XYZ=Repainting, or |2=https://www.bbc.com/search?q=Kent+weather.
